Privacy Policy

Overview

Carivo is built to give you UK vehicle information with minimal data collection. We do not run our own servers, do not sell your data, and do not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. You can use the core lookup features without creating an account.

Information We Collect

When you search a vehicle registration plate, the plate is sent to the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and the DVSA MOT History API to retrieve vehicle data. Optional features may also send vehicle make/model/year to the CarQuery API for performance specifications. If you choose to sign in, your name and email address are obtained from Apple or Google and stored on your device.

Account & Sign-In

Sign-in is optional and only required if you want to sync data across your devices. Carivo supports Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google. We use these providers solely to identify you and to enable iCloud sync; we do not maintain our own user database. Your name and email are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to Deepland Studios. You can sign out at any time from the Profile screen.

iCloud Sync

When you are signed in, your garage vehicles and saved trips are synced across your Apple devices using Apple's iCloud Key-Value Storage. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account under Apple's Privacy Policy — Deepland Studios cannot access it. Sync only occurs on devices signed in to the same iCloud account. Signing out stops further sync; deleting the app removes the local copy from that device.

On-Device Storage

Your garage vehicles, recent searches, saved trips, and app preferences are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. Recent searches are kept on-device only and are not synced to iCloud or to us. This data is deleted when you clear it from within the app or delete the app.

Camera

If you use the number-plate scanner, Carivo accesses your camera to read plates using on-device text recognition (Apple's Vision framework). Camera frames are processed live on your device — no photos are stored, uploaded, or shared. Only the recognised plate text is used to perform a vehicle lookup.

Location

If you use trip planning or fuel-price features, Carivo may request your current location to set a starting point or find nearby fuel stations. Location is processed on your device and is not transmitted to Deepland Studios. You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings.

Notifications

If you enable MOT or road-tax reminders, Carivo schedules local notifications on your device. These are generated entirely on-device — no notification content is sent through Apple's push servers or any third party.

Purchases

Carivo Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple via StoreKit. Apple handles all payment information; Deepland Studios never receives or stores your payment details. Your Pro entitlement is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple ID.

Third-Party Services

Carivo relies on the following third-party services: the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and DVSA MOT History API (UK government), the CarQuery API (vehicle performance data), public CMA-mandated UK fuel-retailer price feeds, Apple Maps (route and place lookups), Apple StoreKit (in-app purchases), Apple Sign-In, and Google Sign-In. Your interactions with these services are subject to their own privacy policies. We do not control the data held by these third parties.

Analytics & Advertising

Carivo does not include any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. We do not use the App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Children's Privacy

Carivo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Your Rights

You can clear local data from within the app, sign out to disable iCloud sync, revoke camera, location and notification permissions in iOS Settings, and delete the app to remove all local data. Data stored in your iCloud account can be managed in iOS Settings under your Apple ID.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected in the app with a revised date. Continued use of Carivo after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
